A Letter from the Philipines to Marshal Kim Jong Un
September 8, 2023
H.E. Marshal Kim Jong Un
General Secretary of the Workers Party of Korea
President, State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK
Pyongyang, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
Dear Your Excellency Marshal Kim Jong Un,
Warmest greetings of Solidarity to Your Excellency MARSHAL KIM JONG UN, Supreme Leader of the Korean people, party, armed forces and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea State Affairs.
The Philippines-Korea Solidarity and Friendship Society (PKSFS) extends sincere greetings to your Excellency and to the Korean people on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on September 9, 1948, led by the great Leader President Kim Il Sung. It is known as the great historical event in the emancipation of the working masses of the world.
Comrade KIM IL SUNG (1912-1994) is the eternal President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), a great man born in the 20th century. After establishing the DPR Korea, Great Leader President Kim Il Sung stated that “political independence is the lifeblood of a country and nation. Only when independence is maintained in politics is it possible to defend the nation’s prestige and to accelerate the revolution and construction.”
Today, the DPRK under the brilliant Songun revolutionary leadership of His Excellency Marshal KIM JONG UN, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, General Secretary of the glorious Workers Party of Korea, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK, guided by the immortal Juche idea and Songun policy, advances forward on the path of revolution and prosperity of the people and for independent and peaceful reunification of Korea by the great national unity of the entire Korean people.
The meeting held between July 9th-10th, 1948 ratified the enforcement of the DPRK Constitution in the northern part of the country as reported by Kim Il Sung and a decision to hold an election of the first Supreme People’s Assembly was made to be held on August 25, 1948. In the same month, the new Supreme People’s Assembly was elected and on September 2, the first session of the Supreme People’s Assembly began in Pyongyang.
On September 9, the foundation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was announced. Kim Il Sung became the Premier of the Cabinet and Head of State of the DPRK. The first celebrations of the Grand National Holiday took place on September 9, 1949, one year after the official founding of North Korea.
But due to the Korean War, the Grand National Holiday was not publicly celebrated in any significant way for three years, but only mentioned in the North Korean press and media. After the Korean War, the Grand National Holiday is celebrated every year in the whole country.
The Grand National Day has also been the time to host high-level political delegations and to show the DPRK to the world. In 2018, on its 70th anniversary there were important visitors and delegations from other countries who attended and visited not only Pyongyang but other important historical places and cities in the DPRK.
The Philippines-Korea Solidarity and Friendship Society (PKSFS) as a sign of our solidarity with the Korean people, sent a delegation of its leaders and members a few times to join the commemoration and celebration of important events in the DPRK, hosted by the Korea-Philippines Friendship Society.
The Philippines commemorates its Independence Day every June 12. In 1898, Filipino revolutionary forces proclaimed sovereignty and independence from the colonial rule of Spain but this was not recognized by the Spanish government. The succeeding decades witnessed the Philippines being under the colonial rules of the Japanese and the United States. To this day, the US intervenes in the political, social, economic and cultural aspects in the lives of Filipinos. The Philippines remains a neo-colony under the domination of US imperialism.
We continue to be inspired by the Korean people, in your determination and your struggle for genuine independence from imperialist forces.
Lastly, the Philippines-Korea Solidarity and Friendship Society (PKSFS) calls for:
An Independent and Peaceful Reunification of KOREA! KOREA IS ONE!
End US nuclear threats, blockades and sanctions on the DPRK!
Intensify our common struggle against US imperialism in the Philippines and DPRK!
Long live the Philippines-Korea friendship and solidarity!
In Solidarity,
Mr. Rafael V. Mariano
President
Philippines-Korea Solidarity and Friendship Society (PKSFS)
