Congratulations to the people of the DPRK for 75 years of your fearless strength against adversity. The DPRK was founded after the Japanese were defeated at the end of WW2, ending the barbaric 40 year Japanese military occupation of Korea. The Japanese attempted to destroy Korean culture, language and rich history in addition to the demolition of infrastructure. The scale of destruction, death and suffering cannot be imagined.
The resilient DPRK people were making good progress in rebuilding their country when, only two years later, the US provoked a war to destroy them. The US lead allies flattened the whole country by mobilizing enormous military forces and equipment and they committed large scale inhumane crimes against the long suffering DPRK people.
The US lead allies were defeated after a three-year hard-fought war and signed an armistice agreement which was equivalent to a surrender document. A Peace Treaty was to follow but the US never honoured the agreement.
In a prolonged state of war, the US continue their hostile policies towards the DPRK to this day via crippling sanctions, provocative military exercises and endless western propaganda to alienate the DPRK from the rest of the world.
After 75 years the DPRK remains strong, have rebuilt their country from the ashes, restored their rich history and culture to the forefront, developed a formidable national defence capability and is reaching out to progressive people around the world seeking friendship and understanding.
Those who love justice and peace will support the Korean people in their just struggle to safeguard the sovereign right of the country with a clear recognition of the current situation on the Korean peninsula.
We in Sydney, Australia join with other progressive people from around the world to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the DPRK.
Congratulations!
