• International E-seminar in Celebration of the 80th Birth Anniversary of General Kim Jong Il

ON behalf of All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association and the special committee formed to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Great Leader Kim Jong Il, I wish to record our support for the global importance of the liberation of Korea from Japanese occupation and the foundation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with  its highlighting the importance of self-reliance, self-defence, the peaceful reunification of the  whole of the Korean peninsula without outside interference,  presence of foreign troops and weaponry in the territory under the banner of socialism.

The essence of this perception is of prime importance to the world today where divisive forces, aided and abetted by imperialism, powerful countries and even terrorist groups are making life difficult for the majority of the working people who are peace loving and hope to make a better life through progress, education and prosperity for all in a world free of external control and the threat of war looming above them.

They are today seeking good advice in his writings such as The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party (January 1992), Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable (March 1993) and Socialism Is a Science (November 1994) not only because of their clarity but also because of the success of the stability of the DPRK and the developments in the lives and independent thinking of the country led by the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is the manner in which the DPRK has faced the longest war of US imperialism away from its borders and has developed its industry, agriculture, military capacity and scientific advance through a remarkable and creative education system that has inspired the respect for the success of the pattern of socialist society that was evolved by Great Leaders like Com.

Kim Il Sung, Com. Kim Jong Il and now Com. Kim Jong Un who was able to successfully undertake one to one talks with the US President after seven decades of hostility. This is no small victory for the DPRK and we wish you further successes including the ending of the Armistice to end the Korean War with a peace treaty, the removal of foreign troops and nuclear weapons  that alone can allow the peaceful reunification of the Korean people and the Korean peninsula.

We therefore wish you all success in the coming years based on the teachings of scientific thinking and action in which the Great Leader Com. Kim Jong Il played a leading role as a creative intellectual, a firm negotiator and a successful guide for the future of not only the DPRK, the Korean peninsula and a world beset by divisions, hostilities and wars. It is from this perspective that he met heads of states and parties of Russia, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia and other states, as well as top level delegations of the EU and even figures from hostile countries including Ex-President Clinton and Secretary of State  Albright of the United States and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. Everyone who met him, regardless of their nationality, religious belief, idea or political view, sympathized with his principle and fair view on global independence.

The greatest of the exploits performed by the Great Leader Kim Jong Il for the cause of global independence is that, by administering the unique Songun politics, he made a breakthrough in the US-led imperialists’ attempt to establish a unipolar world and maintain the outdated international political landscape centered on powers, and firmly defended the peace and security on the Korean peninsula, northeast Asia and the rest of the world.

Proceeding from the iron truth that one can defend the independence and dignity of one’s country and nation and the durable peace and security of the world only by dint of self-defensive arms, the invincible military might, in the present era when the sovereignty of several countries and justice of the world are being ruthlessly trampled upon by the outrageous high-handedness and arbitrariness of the  imperialists based on military strength, Com. Kim Jong Il enforced the Songun politics unprecedented in the history of world politics.

We express our solidarity and respect for the memory of Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, who was born to Guerilla parents at a secret camp on Mt Paektu when the armed struggle was being waged by the Korean revolutionaries under the leadership of the Great Leader Kim Il Sung, eternal President of the DPRK, on 16 February 1942 which we all celebrate as the Day of the Shining Star today.
