Our Duty is to Ensure the Korean People to Get the Right of Peace
Rachmawati Soekarnoputri**
Dear Co-Chairperson Mr. Peter Woods,
Dear Co-Chairperson Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal,
Dear key members of friendship and solidarity organizations with the Korean people in the Asia-Pacific region,
Dear representatives of different progressive organizations, and anti-war and peace organizations,
Dear comrades and friends,
Our meeting today, apart from reviewing the journey of the APRCPRK which has been going on for nine years since its inception in 2012, also proves that we have a strong commitment to support peace and peaceful reunification on the Korean Peninsula.
We believe and agree that the unity among the Korean people can be determined independently by the Korean nation itself.
As friends, it is our duty to ensure that the Korean people get that right; the right to establish their peace and their unity without interference and the hostility of other countries who wish to maintain their dominance in the region.
It is our duty to remind other parties who are always shouting about peace on the Korean Peninsula but are actually trying to prolong the conflict situation. They must stop their provocation.
They must respect agreement after agreement reached by the people and leaders of the Korean nation to eliminate violence and symbols of war from the Korean Peninsula.
In the journey towards reunification on the Korean Peninsula, we are obliged to ensure that the Korean people have the right to coexist peacefully, as one of the important points in the Dasasila Bandung which was produced by the Asian-African Conference in 1955 in Bandung, Indonesia.
We have witnessed that our friend, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, has always tried to apply the principle of peaceful coexistence while continuing to carry out talks and various efforts towards peaceful reunification.
However, there are those who are unhappy with the peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula which until now have continued to disturb and destroy the nuances of peace that we have witnessed in recent years.
My Comrades, ending this welcome, I invite all of us to continue to provide support for the peaceful reunification process on the Korean Peninsula.
Long live the Korean Nation.
